Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal said, ‘The Government of Nepal respects the close relations and sensitivities that exist between India and Nepal. We are always ready to resolve the border issue through diplomatic talks on the basis of historical agreements and maps.

During this, Khanal also mentioned the statement given by Prime Minister Balendra Shah in Parliament in May. He said that the Foreign Ministry has already made its stand clear on that. In fact, Prime Minister Balendra Shah had said that Nepal has also in many places India Have occupied the lands. He had talked about involving China and Britain to resolve this matter.
India had completely rejected the interference of any third country on this issue. Nepal’s opposition parties also criticized this statement of Balen Shah. Later, Nepal’s Foreign Ministry issued a clarification saying that what they meant was the infiltration of local people from both sides of the border.
Both countries are working together on the Susta border
While talking about the ongoing border dispute in Susta region of southern Nepal on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Khanal said that whatever work is being done along the international border, it is being done in mutual coordination between the two sides. The construction work of 132 meter long embankment in Susta area has also been taken forward only after mutual agreement between the two countries. The institutions of both the countries are in close contact with each other.
way to negotiate old disputes
Let us tell you that there is an old border dispute between India and Nepal regarding Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani. Both countries lay claim to these areas. India has always maintained that these areas are part of Uttarakhand and this issue should be resolved only through bilateral talks.

Earlier on June 10, Foreign Minister Khanal had told the Parliament that a joint working group will work to deal with the issue of encroachment by civilians on the border between the two countries.
