In Rehra village of Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, a woman named Pooja Gautam, along with her lover Firoz, committed a dreadful incident. She burnt her 28-year-old husband Lalji Gautam alive by tying him to a cot and sprinkling inflammable substance while he was sleeping. This incident was carried out due to the revelation of the secret of illicit relations and protest against it. Lalji, who was seriously burnt, is undergoing treatment in a medical college in Basti, where his condition remains critical. The police registered a case on the complaint of Lalji’s father Ghammal Prasad and on Tuesday arrested both the accused from the local bus stop and sent them to judicial custody.
The lover was coming home for two years posing as a brother-in-law.
According to the news agency, police investigation has revealed that Lalji Gautam and Pooja were married eight years ago and they have two children aged seven and four. Pooja was having a love affair with a young man named Firoz.
To avoid any doubt, Firoz used to visit Pooja’s house posing as her brother-in-law (brother-in-law) for the last two years. On May 21, Lalji came to know that Firoz had no family relation with his wife, after which tension increased in the house.

After the dispute, the same night when Lalji was sleeping, Pooja and Firoz tied him to the cot and set him on fire. Hearing Lalji’s screams, the family members ran to the spot and somehow extinguished the fire, but by then he was seriously burnt. Area officer Brijesh Kumar Verma said that both the accused have been arrested and sent to jail.
