Major approvals of DAC
After Operation Sindoor, the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) did record work in defense procurement. Last year, a total of proposals worth Rs 3.84 lakh crore were approved. In July 2025, 10 proposals worth Rs 1.05 lakh crore were passed, which include Armored Recovery Vehicle, Electronic Warfare System, Inventory Management System and Surface-to-Air Missile.
Proposals worth Rs 67,000 crore were passed in August, Rs 79,000 crore in October and again Rs 79,000 crore in December. These include Nag Missile, Loiter Munition, BrahMos Missile, S-400 Maintenance and many drone systems. All these purchases are indigenous.

Record defense budget and new procurement manual
The defense budget in 2025-26 reached a record level of Rs 6.81 lakh crore, which is 9.53 percent more than last year. In this, Rs 1.80 lakh crore is for capital purchase. 75 percent of the budget was kept for indigenous procurement. Defense Minister in October 2025 Rajnath Singh Released Defense Procurement Manual 2025, which came into effect from November. This made procurement of revenue of Rs 1 lakh crore easier.
Emergency Procurement and Drone Manufacturing
To overcome any shortcomings, emergency procurement was approved in two phases in 2025. Rs 1,958 crore was spent on 13 schemes. 29 schemes have already been implemented in areas like drones, counter drones, precision ammunition and electronic warfare.

515 Army Base Workshop and many other units of the Army developed the capability to make indigenous drones. 819 drones (surveillance, kamikaze and FPV) were manufactured in 8 months of operation. Every soldier is being given training.
