The investigation into the theft of money offered in the Ram temple of Ayodhya has now intensified. The SIT investigating this case will reach Ayodhya soon. Here the team will interrogate the people associated with Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. It will also check the records related to donation system. So far eight people have been arrested in this case.

A new twist in this case came to light when Champat Rai gave his statement to the SIT. He directly raised serious questions on the working style of State Bank of India (SBI). They allege that the bank did not follow basic security rules like searching employees counting cash or making them wear uniforms without pockets. The initial report of the SIT also revealed gross negligence in security during the counting of money, which reveals a major lapse in surveillance.

According to news agency PTI, currently Ram Mandir The entire cash withdrawn from the donation boxes is deposited in the State Bank of India (SBI) branch located at Naya Ghat, Ayodhya. Now the Trust is reviewing this arrangement. Options of linking another bank or depositing the donation amount in different banks are also being considered. Recently, a meeting was also held with officials of a private bank in this connection.

8 accused arrested, Rs 80 lakh recovered

Police have so far arrested eight people in this case. These also include the trust employees involved in counting the offerings in the temple. About Rs 80 lakh in cash and some jewelery have also been recovered during the investigation. Now the police is collecting information about the bank accounts, income, movable and immovable assets and investments of the accused. Besides, it is also being investigated whether the accused have made any suspicious investment or property in the name of their relatives or close people.

The Uttar Pradesh government had formed the SIT on June 13 after allegations of alleged embezzlement of cash and valuables offered in the Ram temple came to light. The investigation team submitted its initial report to the government on June 23. After this, the tenure of the SIT was extended for 15 days to complete the detailed investigation. Now the team can once again go to Ayodhya and check the records and interrogate the people associated with Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
