Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is going on a three-day official visit to Germany from April 21. The main objective of this visit is to further strengthen the defense industry between India and Germany. Also, India’s submarine purchase project has to be taken forward. Defense Ministry sources told India Today that there will be special discussions on submarine deal, technology transfer and promotion of Make in India during this visit.
Rajnath Singh will reach Germany on 21st April. The next day i.e. on 22 April, he will hold a formal meeting with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in Berlin. Officials of both the countries will sit together and discuss. India’s Project-75I in this meeting submarine The project will remain at the top.

India wants to build 6 modern submarines under this project. These submarines will be Air Independent Propulsion (AIP), which can stay underwater for a long time. Germany Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems’ company is a contender for this deal. It has bid in collaboration with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited of India.
Both sides will review the progress of Project-75I. There will be discussion on technology transfer, manufacturing in India and timelines. India wants Germany to give its advanced technology to India and submarines should be made completely in India. This deal is very important for India’s maritime security.
Apart from submarines, both the countries will also discuss maritime security, defense research and development (R&D) in the Indo-Pacific region and joint training between the armies of the two countries. Both India and Germany are concerned about China’s increasing activities in the region. Therefore, efforts will be made to increase cooperation on maritime security.

Meeting with industrialists on 23 April
on 23rd April Rajnath Singh Will meet big leaders and CEOs of Germany’s defense industry in Berlin. Here there will be special focus on Make in India and self-reliant India. India will invite German companies to come to India and jointly manufacture submarines, naval systems, drones, artificial intelligence systems and aerospace parts.

The tour will end on April 24. On that day Rajnath Singh will visit major defense institutions and think tanks of Germany. There will be discussions on joint research, cyber security, space cooperation and simplifying the export control process. Both countries are working on a new agreement, which will look at increased defence-industrial cooperation.
