महिला के पेट से निकाला बालों का गुच्छा, डॉक्टर्स ने बताया, कैसे पहुंचे अंदर? – woman stomach giant hairball rapunzel syndrome faridabad pet se baal kyu nikalte hain tvism

A woman was not feeling hungry for a long time. When she reached the hospital and got examined, even the doctors were surprised. In fact, in Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, a 30-year-old woman was suffering from severe stomach pain, vomiting and loss of appetite for the last several months. If the woman ate even a little food, her stomach would become heavy and she would not feel like eating anything. When the doctors examined the woman, a huge bunch of hair (Trichobezoar) came out from inside her stomach which had completely surrounded a large part of her stomach and due to this the woman did not feel hungry.

How does hair reach the stomach?

According to doctors, this is not an ordinary disease but the result of a serious mental disorder. Actually, this woman was suffering from a disease called Trichotillomania in which the patient has a desire to pull out his own hair.

Along with this, the woman was also addicted to Trichophagia due to which she used to eat her own broken hair. The human body is unable to digest hair, due to which the hair eaten over the years started getting accumulated in the stomach and a big bunch formed in the stomach.

What is Rapunzel syndrome and how dangerous is it?

Doctors believe that such cases are called Rapunzel syndrome in medical science. In this syndrome, not only a large part of the hair remains, but also a long line like a tail extends to the small intestine or colon.

Doctors say that if it is not treated on time, it can cause blockage in the intestines, severe malnutrition, hole in the stomach and spread fatal infections in the body, which can also become life threatening for the patient.

This is how the team of doctors saved lives

Under the guidance of Dr. Puneet Dhar, Dr. Salim Naik and Dr. Jaya Aggarwal of the Gastrointestinal Surgery Department of the hospital, the team counseled the patient after seeing his deteriorating condition and then through surgery, took out that huge tuft of hair from his stomach.

Doctors said that now the woman’s condition is fine but to prevent the disease from recurring, she will need long-term psychiatric follow-up and behavioral therapy.
