A very shocking and disturbing incident from Sribhoomi district of Assam shook everyone. In an area of the district, an eight-year-old innocent girl was first raped and then brutally murdered. After this horrific incident, there is an atmosphere of tension in the entire area and a lot of anger is being seen among the local people.
This entire incident happened in broad daylight, which has raised serious questions on law and order. The family members of the deceased girl said that she had suddenly gone missing around 10 in the morning. When there was no trace of the girl for a long time, the family members started searching for her. After searching in the entire area, the girl’s body was finally found among the bushes on a hill near their house. There was chaos in the family after seeing the dead body of the girl. Later, police sources also confirmed that the girl was raped before she was murdered.
As soon as the news of this horrific incident spread throughout the area, local people came out on the streets. People’s anger was at its peak. Meanwhile, alert local residents themselves tracked down and arrested the alleged accused of this heinous crime. The accused has been identified as Zakir Alam Talukdar. After catching the accused, the angry mob immediately called the police and handed him over to them.
Anger flared up as soon as the news of the brutality spread, people themselves caught the murderer.
However, in this case, the anger of the local people increased further regarding the working style of the police. The villagers allege that immediately after the body was found, they had informed the nearby Madan Mohan Petrol Post about the incident. The surprising thing is that this tragic incident took place just 300 meters away from the police post. Despite such a short distance, the police officers did not reach the spot on time. This alleged negligence of the police added fuel to the fire and sparked anger among the local people.
Angered by the police not arriving on time, people completely blocked the main road connecting Chorgola-Hailakandi till noon. Due to road blockage, long queues of vehicles formed there and traffic came to a complete standstill. The atmosphere at the incident site and surrounding areas became extremely tense. Local people started raising slogans against the police administration and demanding justice.
As soon as the news of road jam and increasing uproar reached the district headquarters, a large police team was immediately sent to Madan Mohan area. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, senior police officers of the district headquarters intervened in the matter. The police first took the matter of not taking timely action seriously. A senior police officer issued an order to suspend Mohan Lal Das, in-charge of Madan Mohan Petrol Post, with immediate effect for dereliction of duty.
The protesters calmed down after action was taken against the outpost in-charge and persuasion by senior officers. Police officials talked to the protesting people and assured them that strictest legal action would be taken against the accused. After the trust of the police, people removed the jam from the road and the traffic could become normal again. After the situation came under control, the police took the accused Zakir Alam Talukdar into their custody and sent him to Sadar police station for further legal proceedings.
Shocked people demanded immediate hanging of the accused
This horrific incident, which happened in broad daylight, has shocked the entire Madan Mohan area. The local residents are extremely scared and frightened by this incident. The people of the area have demanded that this matter should be investigated quickly and the accused should be given strict punishment from the court as soon as possible. Along with this, people have also raised the demand for fixing the accountability of the local police and strengthening the security system in the area so that no such incident happens again in future.
