Soil subsidence in Rohingya refugee camps
He said that many areas have been badly affected by the floods, but the coastal district Cox’s Bazar has been the most affected, where landslides following torrential rains last week have caused huge destruction. Due to mudslide in Rohingya refugee camps, many people including children have died after getting buried under the debris. Rescue operations are being conducted in the affected areas.
The situation has become worse in many areas
The situation in the area has become so bad that many villages are still waist-deep in water. In some low-lying areas, the level of flood has increased so much that the water has even reached the roofs of people’s tin houses, due to which people are wandering in search of safe places.
According to the Disaster Management Ministry, due to this severe flood, more than 10 lakh people are stranded at different places. The flood victims have expressed their displeasure and complained that the relief assistance provided by the administration is arriving very slowly and is completely inadequate to meet their basic needs.
