According to the agency, a plan is going on in the country to mix up to 20 percent ethanol in petrol, which is called E20 program. in recent times social media But it was being claimed that this consumes more water, vehicle engines get damaged and even insurance can be affected. The government has declared all these claims wrong.

Government gave clarification in these 10 points

  1. The claim that 10,000 liters of water is required to make one liter of ethanol is not true. According to the government, about 3 to 5 liters of processed water is used for every liter of production in the ethanol plant. Many plants reuse water through Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems.
  2. E20 is not a new experiment. Ethanol blended fuel has been in use for years in America, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Thailand and many European countries.
  3. The claim of engine failure is false. Studies by ARAI and other organizations did not find any major negative impact of E20 on the engine or vehicle performance. However, in some older vehicles, some rubber parts may need to be replaced earlier.
  4. Only minor changes in mileage were observed in testing. The government says that E20 does not have any major impact on the driving ability of the vehicle.
  5. This will not affect the warranty and insurance of vehicles designed or approved for E20.
  6. The government said that fuel grade ethanol does not contain sugar. Denaturants are added to it and the smell of petrol dominates, hence the claim of attracting ants or bees is false.
  7. The government said that the court was not hearing the validity of the E20 program, but the contracts related to ethanol purchase. Therefore, the news of using E20 is wrong.
  8. According to the government, the arrangement of modern vehicles and petrol pumps is such that there are adequate arrangements to prevent water from getting into the fuel tank.
  9. The government termed the video of mixing banana juice with petrol as fake. The ministry says that fuel grade ethanol is prepared through a prescribed industrial process and is mixed with petrol as per the quality standards.
  10. The government says that by mixing ethanol in petrol, the country has saved more than Rs 1.9 lakh crore, which would have been spent on importing oil. Not only this, farmers have earned more than Rs 1.6 lakh crore from this. Besides, the import of crude oil has reduced by 310 lakh metric tons and a huge amount of pollution has also reduced.
