A case has come to light in Qazi Camp area of Hanumanganj police station area of Bhopal, where a youth was stopped in his Thar vehicle and assaulted and demanding extortion money. It is alleged that 10 to 12 miscreants surrounded the young man, demanded Rs 15,000 from him, beat him up and threatened to kill him if he protested. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced. Police have registered the case and started investigation. According to the police, 24-year-old Adnan Khan, a resident of Sironj, had come to Bhopal a few days ago to attend the engagement ceremony organized by his relatives. He had gone out for a walk on Tuesday morning. When he was returning, some people surrounded his Thar car near Salim Tea seller’s shop in Qazi Camp area.
It is alleged that Salman Rehman alias Ghoda, Rashid and their 8 to 10 associates associated with Arshad Babba gang stopped Adnan. First of all he was questioned about one of his relatives. After this, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 15,000, saying that one has to pay to travel in the area in an expensive car. According to the victim, when she refused to give the money, the accused started abusing her and assaulted her. During this time he was also threatened with death. It is alleged that some miscreants also took out knives, due to which he got scared.
10 to 12 miscreants stopped the car, demanded 15 thousand rupees
To save his life, Adnan moved his Thar forward, but the accused did not step back. It is being told that some miscreants climbed on the bonnet of the vehicle and other accused started chasing it in vehicles. After being chased for about a kilometer, Adnan reached Sambhavna Trust, where he stopped the car. Meanwhile, an accused sitting on the bonnet fell down.
After this, Adnan somehow reached his aunt’s house in Bafna Colony and informed the family about the entire incident. Later he reached Hanumanganj police station with his family members and lodged a complaint. It is being told that the names of the people against whom allegations have been made have already appeared in many serious cases.
Police started searching for the accused
The names of some members of the same gang had also surfaced in the deadly attack on software engineer Mohammad Yusuf Khan at Jhanda Chowk in Khanu village on 13 May. His name was also in discussion in the incident of attack on a hotel operator with knife and sword in Kotwali area during absconding. Hanumanganj police station in-charge Awadhesh Singh Bhadauria said that the matter is being investigated. Police have registered the case and efforts are being made to identify the accused and arrest them on the basis of CCTV footage and other evidence.
