Amidst the investigation into the Neerja Sharma murder case in Jaipur, Rajasthan, new claims are continuously emerging. A day before, Neerja Sharma’s brother and Aayushi’s maternal uncle Rakesh Sharma had lodged a complaint with the police and also approached the court. He has also demanded a re-investigation into the death of Ayushi’s father Vijay Vashishtha alias Vijay Sharma. Rakesh Sharma alleges that in April 2025, Ayushi, along with her cousin Balram, had murdered her ailing father.
‘Kept my father hidden for three months’
Rakesh Sharma says that Vijay Sharma was definitely ill at that time, but he was undergoing treatment and his health had improved. It is alleged that Ayushi was not allowing him to get proper medical treatment even during treatment. During this time, cousin brother Balram was also staying at Vijay Sharma’s house. According to the maternal uncle, one day Ayushi told the family that she had met a doctor who would completely cure Vijay Sharma. After this she took him along with Balram. It is alleged that for about three months the family was not even told where they were kept. When Neerja Sharma asked repeatedly, she was told that Vijay Sharma was admitted to NIMS Hospital on Delhi Road, but she could not go there and meet him. The maternal uncle says that at that time the disabled son of the family was in such a condition that he could not be left alone even for a few minutes.
‘She said such a thing as soon as her father died’
According to Rakesh Sharma, later a message came from Ayushi that Vijay Sharma Jaipur Is admitted in the ICU of K Nivik Hospital. When the family reached there, the doctors told that most of the organs of his body were seriously affected. It is alleged that Ayushi brought him back home from the hospital, where he died. After this Ayushi and Balram took the body to the village and performed the last rites.
Uncle says that immediately after father’s death, Ayushi talked about applying for compassionate appointment. She explained to her sister Neerja Sharma that her daughter’s behavior did not seem normal. Rakesh Sharma alleges that Ayushi had expressed her desire to get the entire property of the family in her name and cousin Balram was constantly instigating her for this. He told that Vijay Sharma was getting both his daughter Ayushi and nephew Balram to study LLB so that both of them could become lawyers in future. Vijay Sharma was working as Court Master in the High Court.
‘I used to get angry as soon as I saw my mother’
During police interrogation, Ayushi reportedly told that her mother’s entire attention was on her mentally challenged brother, while she always felt alone. He said that grandmother, uncle and cousin Balram were closest to him. There were frequent disputes with the mother and later on the insistence of Balram, she went to live in her father’s other house. Ayushi also said that she always felt angry seeing her mother because she felt that her mother loved her brother more and ignored him. She also alleged that maternal uncle and maternal grandfather had a lot of interference in the family matters. However, she also said that she loves her disabled brother very much. During interrogation, he reportedly told that he and Balram often talked about planning to murder their mother.
‘When papa’s food pipe was removed, what are you…?’
Rakesh Sharma claims that once during a dispute, Ayushi had told her mother, ‘When I killed Papa by taking out his food pipe, then what are you, I will kill you too in two days.’ According to the maternal uncle, after this alleged threat, Neerja Sharma had written on her WhatsApp status that only two days were left in her life.
Cousin Balram is still absconding
Meanwhile, DCP Ranjita Sharma said that the search for Balram, who is absconding after the incident, is continuing. He told that the complaint given by Neerja Sharma’s family regarding Vijay Sharma’s death will also be investigated. According to the police, during interrogation, Ayushi said that the reason behind her mother’s murder was her desire to acquire property and deep resentment towards her mother.
Officials say that Ayushi, a final year LLB student, has a very sharp mind and understanding of law. Now he will also be interrogated with the help of psychologists. Police say that Ayushi is definitely describing her childhood as bad, but when she is asked in detail why it was so, she becomes silent about it.
