Congress is writing a new script of alliance in UP
Congress MP Imran Masood said that the Congress party is preparing the script of its alliance in Uttar Pradesh. Many small parties can join this alliance. Chandrashekhar Azad and Asaduddin Owaisi Describing him as his brother, Imran Masood said that Congress still has a lot of arrows in its quiver. Masood said that the Congress party is going to write its own script regarding the alliance in the state.
On one hand, Congress talks about 170 A grade seats and on the other hand, praises Chandrashekhar and Owaisi. This is indicating that Congress does not want to leave Akhilesh Yadav’s support in UP, but will not remain in the alliance even after becoming a hanger-on. In such a situation, the way Imran Masood is trying to embrace Chandrashekhar and Owaisi, it has political significance.
Imran called Owaisi and Chandrashekhar brothers
While talking to Aaj Tak, Imran Masood called BJP communal but refrained from labeling Owaisi as communal. Earlier, Congress leaders had been calling Asaduddin Owaisi as BJP’s B-team. Imran Masood described Asaduddin Owaisi as his elder brother, but on the question of alliance, he said that this decision will be taken by the party.
Asaduddin Owaisi has started his preparations for 2027 in Uttar Pradesh. Starting his election preparations from Matera in Muslim-dominated Bahraich, Asaduddin Owaisi also declared his state president Shaukat Ali as his candidate from Matera seat. The way Imran Masood has adopted a soft attitude with Owaisi becoming active is being considered as a political signal.
Imran Masood described Azad Samaj Party leader Chandrashekhar Azad as his friend and sympathizer. He said that Chandrashekhar has helped him in the 2024 elections, we want him to progress a lot. In such a situation, we will do whatever we can. Did not give a clear answer to the question of alliance with Chandrashekhar’s party, but definitely gave a hint.
Is there any stake in pressure politics on SP?
SP has an alliance with Congress in UP, about which Akhilesh Yadav has indicated many times. The issue of seat sharing between SP and Congress is definitely stuck. In such a situation, Imran Masood may also have a strategy to put pressure on SP by hinting at joining hands with Owaisi and Chandrashekhar. However, the political base of both SP and Congress in UP is almost the same. The core vote bank of both the parties is Muslim, due to which their relations remain quite volatile.
Imran Masood had left Congress and joined SP in the 2022 elections, but Akhilesh Yadav did not contest him. After this, he returned to Congress again through BSP. Chandrashekhar Azad also comes from Imran Masood’s district Saharanpur. Chandrashekhar had also tried hard to form an alliance with SP in 2022, but things could not work out. Referring to himself and Chandrashekhar, Imran Masood said that both of us have to face a lot of humiliation in 2022, he was pointing towards Akhilesh Yadav.
SP is not ready for an alliance with Owaisi and Chandrashekhar in UP and Congress has not made a political move to put pressure on Akhilesh Yadav by hinting at joining hands with both of them. Now it remains to be seen which script of alliance Congress writes in UP.
