Karnataka Lokayukta on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids across the state and raided the residences of 10 government officials. All these officers are accused of amassing wealth disproportionate to their income.
According to officials, the houses and offices of these officers were searched in Bengaluru City, Bengaluru South, Raichur, Chitradurga, Tumkuru, Shivamogga and Kalaburagi.
Meanwhile, a large quantity of gold ornaments and huge cash have been recovered from the house of Pushpa, AEO of Agriculture Department, the goldsmith has been called to know the value of which.
The work of counting and valuation of jewelery and cash found from Pushpa’s house is still going on, which will make the picture of the whole matter clearer.
The 10 officers who were raided by the Lokayukta team include Basanagoud Patil, executive engineer of Krishna Bhagya Jal Nigam Limited, Raichur, Shankar M, assistant professor of Agricultural Engineering (Horticulture) University, Chitradurga, and Duggappa BH, range forest officer of Watershed Development Department, Chitradurga.
Apart from this, Bengaluru PWD Executive Engineer Narendra Kumar, KRIDL Bengaluru Range Office Superintendent Engineer Praveen B Sri Hari and Bengaluru APMC Deputy Director (Administration) Pushpa DR were also raided.
Apart from these, Madhusudan N, assistant engineer of Minor Irrigation Department of Tumakuru, Thimme Gowda, PDO of Kumbalgodu Panchayat of Bengaluru South, Kiran Angadi, assistant conservator of Shivamogga Forest Research Division and Amrit Rao, assistant executive engineer (electrical) of GESCOM, Kalaburagi, were also included in this action.
The Lokayukta team is investigating the assets of all these officers and it is being ascertained whether the assets possessed by them match their salary and earnings or not.
