The new rural employment scheme Vikas Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Rural Act 2025 (VB-G RAM G) has been implemented in the entire country from today i.e. July 1. On Tuesday, the Central Government had issued a notification regarding change in wage rates under this new scheme.
Now the average wage under MNREGA has increased from Rs 298.8 per day to VB-Yes Ram Ji Under this, it has become Rs 327.4 per day. That means there has been an average increase of Rs 28.6 every day.
According to the Ministry of Rural Development, wage rates have been increased in all 34 states, union territories and pay areas of the country. The government has fixed a new minimum wage rate of Rs 300 per day, so that the wages in any area should not be less than this. The government says that there has been an average increase of more than 10 percent in the entire country.
Under this new law, eligible rural families will now get guaranteed employment for 125 days instead of 100 days. The ministry said that the new minimum wage rate has been raised to Rs 300 in 21 states and territories. Whereas in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Assam, wage rates will increase by 15 to 25 percent. The maximum increase will be about 24.5 percent in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.
In the states where wages were already high, there has also been an increase. Now the wage rate has been fixed at Rs 409 per day in Haryana, Rs 406 in Goa, Rs 401 in Kerala and Rs 450 in high altitude areas of Sikkim. The government has given an interim amount of Rs 95,692.31 crore to the states and union territories to smoothly implement this change.

Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the priority of the government is that no eligible rural laborer should remain without work even for a day. He called it a big step towards developed India.
The old job cards will remain valid until the new Rural Employment Guarantee Cards are issued. According to the ministry, 29 states and union territories have made provision for this in the budget, while 24 states have notified their plans.
However, opposition parties and activists have raised questions on this new system. He says that this may affect the demand based employment system and the role of states and panchayats. The national launch of this scheme will take place on July 2 in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh.
