एकनाथ शिंदे महायुति में कैसे कामयाब हो गए, और उद्धव फिर चूक गए – eknath shinde mahayuti struggle over uddhav thackeray faces another setback ntcpmr
Today is the foundation day of Shiv Sena. On June 19, 1966, Bala Saheb Thackeray founded Shiv Sena to fight for the rights and regional pride of the Marathi speaking people. After 2022, both the factions of divided Shiv Sena are celebrating their foundation days separately. There is a rally of Eknath Shinde in Goregaon and Uddhav Thackeray in Sion. And, this is happening at a time when there has been another breakdown in Uddhav Thackeray’s faction. 6 out of 9 MPs have rebelled. But, out of the 6 rebels, 4 have come forward publicly, the remaining 2 are still holding their stand for different reasons.
Deputy CM of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde On behalf of the faction, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde has released the teaser of the Foundation Day program. Bal Thackeray’s old famous statements have been included in the teaser – ‘I will not let Shiv Sena become Congress’, ‘I am a mad, mad Hindu!’
The interesting thing is that by making the allegations, Eknath Shinde and the MLAs Uddhav Thackeray Rebel MPs are also making similar allegations. Taking BJP’s allegations forward, Eknath Shinde had said that Uddhav Thackeray has deviated from the ideology of Hindutva. And, now the rebel MPs have also repeated the same allegation. According to the report, this has come to light from the letter written to the Speaker. Rebel MPs claim that senior leaders of the Thackeray group want to merge Shiv Sena with Congress and Uddhav Thackeray has changed his ideology. The argument of such MPs is that they are separating to save the existence of the party.
Efforts to increase Shinde’s influence in the grand alliance
Coup in Maharashtra and Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde had got the post of Chief Minister in return for breaking the government into two pieces, after the rebellion of the MPs, once again his supporters have started raising their voice for making him the CM. Shinde Sena MLA Bachchu Kadu says that Shiv Sainiks wish that Eknath Shinde should take charge of the state again. However, he also termed it as his personal opinion. During a program, Bachchu Kadu raised the issue of farmers’ problems and increasing suicides and said, despite being the Chief Minister from Vidarbha region, the problems of the farmers have not completely ended.
Similarly, Uday Samant, a minister in the Mahayuti government from Shinde quota, says, just as BJP workers feel that Devendra Fadnavis should become the Chief Minister, similarly Shiv Sena workers and leaders want Eknath Shinde to be seen in that position. Like Bachchu Kadu, Uday Samant has requested to understand his words as a natural political aspiration rather than a political controversy.
Maharashtra After BJP won 132 seats on its own, Devendra Fadnavis regained the post of Chief Minister, and despite all the protests, demands and anger, Eknath Shinde had to be content with the post of Deputy CM. Eknath Shinde had got 57 seats in Maharashtra Assembly elections. Of course, whatever Eknath Shinde is going to do now, his stake is higher than before, but why would Devendra Fadnavis compromise now? And, why would the BJP high command also accept all this?
Eknath Shinde may not be able to stake claim to the post of Chief Minister, but his position will definitely increase in the ruling NDA at the Centre. Recently, there was a huge altercation between supporters of Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde over invitation to a program. The matter became so serious that the Chief Minister’s Office had to issue a notice against the organizers.
Recently, the Shinde camp seems troubled by its neglect in the Grand Alliance and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ growing closeness to Uddhav Thackeray. Aditya Thackeray’s call to Matoshree at midnight was also widely discussed, after which Devendra Fadnavis took immediate action and put a stop to the changes taking place in BMC with immediate effect.
Now Eknath Shinde has hit double the target with one stone. Uddhav Thackeray’s intention of complete destruction is visible, Devendra Fadnavis is also the target. Eknath Shinde may have lagged behind in terms of numbers in Mahayuti, but once ‘Operation Tiger’ is successful, Eknath Shinde’s dominance will be established in NDA.
It has been said that the NDA government at the Center Chandrababu Naidu And it is resting on the crutches of Nitish Kumar, but now half of the equation has changed, half is on the way to change. TDP leader and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu with 16 MPs was occupying the second position in the NDA, but NCPI with 20 MPs has pushed TDP to the third position.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena got 9 seats each, while Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena could get only 7 seats. Now if 6 MPs from Uddhav Thackeray’s side join forces with Eknath Shinde, then they will have 13 MPs in the Lok Sabha.
As soon as Eknath Shinde becomes the leader of 13 MPs, he will leave Nitish Kumar behind in NDA. Nitish Kumar’s party JDU has 12 MPs. If seen, the importance of Eknath Shinde will increase in front of BJP compared to Nitish Kumar’s JDU – and his stake in the next cabinet expansion may also increase.
Now, if Eknath Shinde’s stature will increase in NDA, it will automatically not be easy for Devendra Fadnavis to ignore him in Mahayuti.
Why does Uddhav Thackeray miss again and again?
If we look at the history of Shiv Sena, the latest disintegration in Shiv Sena does not seem to be a new thing – in 60 years, Shiv Sena has been divided 6 times.
While the rebellion of 2022 was a strong blow for Uddhav Thackeray, the rebellion of 2026 has brought him to the brink of ruin.
1. The first split in Shiv Sena was seen in the 70s when Bandu Shingre, a leader from Mumbai, separated from Bala Saheb Thackeray and formed his own party.
2. Chhagan Bhujbal’s rebellion against Bal Thackeray in December 1991 has been much talked about. Chhagan Bhujbal was then the leader of opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, and out of 52 Shiv Sena MLAs, 18 were claimed to be in his support – but only 6 MLAs could support him. Later the rebel group joined hands with Congress.
3. In July 2005, a strong blow was also given by Narayan Rane, who was also made the Chief Minister of Maharashtra by Bal Thackeray in 1999. Narayan Rane, who then left Shiv Sena and joined Congress, is currently in BJP.
4. After handing over the command of Shiv Sena to Uddhav Thackeray, Bal Thackeray’s succession claimant Raj Thackeray left Shiv Sena in 2006 and formed Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray were seen together a few days ago on the issue of Marathi Manush, but later the matter seems to have cooled down.
5. The first major blow for Shiv Sena in 2022 was the rebellion of Eknath Shinde with 40 out of 55 MLAs – and now the same Eknath Shinde is giving the second blow.
It is becoming difficult for Uddhav Thackeray to remain with Congress. First of all, clashing while challenging the BJP leadership is proving costly, but in the new split, the MPs’ argument of defending the party with Hindutva agenda by taking the name of Congress only shows the repeat of 2022.
In trying to give a new color to the political legacy of Hindutva agenda, Uddhav Thackeray is having to pay the price again and again. It was possible to soften Shiv Sena’s aggressive stance, but his Shiv Sainiks are not able to digest Uddhav Thackeray’s secularism by moving beyond the staunch Hindutva political ideology. Whatever leaders were together after 2022, there must have been a special reason for being together, but now that bond has also weakened – and Uddhav Thackeray misses that point of politics.
