Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived in Mumbai on Friday, starting a four-day visit to India. He will visit New Delhi on March 1 and hold talks with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi March 2, according to the official schedule.The Canadian Prime Minister made a statement on X, welcoming India as he landed in Mumbai, saying, “India is the world’s fastest growing major economy. We have just arrived in Mumbai to meet with business leaders – and build partnerships that will unlock new opportunities for Canadian workers and businesses.”
Carney began a four-day visit to India on Friday, starting in Mumbai, in an important visit to restore and strengthen ties between New Delhi and Ottawa.According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Kearney will visit New Delhi for talks with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House. The two leaders are expected to review progress under the India-Canada Strategic Partnership, building on their previous meetings in Kananaskis and Johannesburg in 2025.The talks will cover trade and investment, energy, critical minerals, agriculture, education, research and innovation and people-to-people relations. The leaders will also exchange views on regional and global developments and attend the India-Canada CEO Forum.The visit comes after months of diplomatic tension between the two countries following a 2023 conflict over the killing of a Khalistani separatist.
