'Whatever was discussed between us remains': Supriya Sule on merger of NCP parties after Ajit Pawar's death

New Delhi: NCP (SP) working president Dr Supriya Sule Thursday said it is everyone’s moral duty to fulfill the unfinished dream of Ajit Pawar, who died in a plane crash on January 28. He added that the merger talks they had “remain between us”.“We are supporting each other and moving forward. Dada is no more, so I don’t want to revisit old issues. Whatever discussions we had. It is our moral duty to fulfill his unfinished dreams,” news agency PTI quoted him as saying when asked about speculations on a possible merger of the two NCP factions.

As for whether talks on the merger will continue, Sule said the family is grieving and did not want to comment further at this stage.Referring to MLA Rohit Pawar’s concern over the circumstances of the plane crash, he said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had assured a detailed probe. “His discomfort is natural. There are many questions about what happened, how it happened and whether it could have been prevented. The chief minister has promised a detailed inquiry. We should wait for its outcome,” said the Baramati Lok Sabha MP.Sule also expressed gratitude to leaders across party lines who inquired about NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar’s health during his recent hospitalization. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were among them. “I sincerely thank everyone for standing by the Power family during this time,” he said.
