Haridwar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a state-level exhibition on “New Justice Samhita” organized by the Uttarakhand government at Bairagi Camp in Haridwar on Saturday. The exhibition aims to spread awareness and highlight the effective implementation of the new criminal laws introduced by the Government of India, the Indian Justice Code (BNS), the Indian Civil Protection Code (BNSS), and the Indian Evidence Act (BSA).Exhibitions are organized to acquaint citizens, lawyers, police personnel, prosecution officers and other stakeholders with the modern criminal justice system. Key provisions of the new law are being presented in a simple, visual and interactive format. These include mandatory time-bound investigation and filing of chargesheets, provision of zero FIR and e-FIR, mandatory forensic investigation in offenses punishable with imprisonment exceeding seven years, admissibility of electronic and digital evidence and strong legal provisions for crimes against women and children.It is noteworthy that Uttarakhand ranks first in the country in implementing new laws like the Indian Nyaya Samhita. The exhibition will be open to the public till March 9.Earlier in the day, Shah also inaugurated a development exhibition at Bairagi Camp in Haridwar, showcasing the achievements of the Uttarakhand government. He visited various stalls and reviewed the exhibits highlighting the progress of the state.The exhibition is based on the development initiatives taken by the state government in the last four years under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. It outlines major tasks related to infrastructure development, strengthening of road connectivity, expansion of healthcare services, reforms in the education sector, investment promotion, tourism development, preservation of religious and cultural heritage and development of border areas.Several important and historic decisions taken by the state government are also displayed as part of the exhibition.
