Army fires at 'drones' along LoC; Search AirDrop

JAMMU: Vigilant troops spotted a suspicious drone control line on Friday in the Gulpur sector (LoC) of J&K’s Poonch district and fired several rounds. However, the unmanned aircraft could not be brought down.The UAV later proceeded towards the Syrian village of Gulpur, allegedly crossing the LoC, officials said. “Security forces have stepped up surveillance in the sector and have launched search operations in the area to ensure there is no drop of arms or narcotics,” an official said.Earlier this month, J&K Police and BSFIn a joint operation, around 6 kg of drone-dropped drugs worth around Rs 40 crore were recovered near the international border in Jammu’s RS Pura sector on February 14.
