New Delhi: The BJP-led central government on Friday slammed the Congress and traded guns on Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi after members of the party’s youth wing committed a shirtless “disgusting act” at the ongoing AI summit.The comments came after about 10 IYC workers were detained after they briefly raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside the flagship exhibition hall No. 5, police said.“They were immediately evacuated and taken to Tilak Marg police station. No one will be allowed to violate the law and order situation,” said a senior police officer.The protest triggered a political war of words, with BJP leaders accusing the Congress of obstruction.
‘Headless, Brainless, Shameless’
BJP MP Sambit Patra said, “Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party are traitors of the highest order. The country’s biggest traitors. Wherever the country prospers, wherever there is happiness, they must destroy it. They are traitors… I have three words for Congress: Topless, Brainless, Shameless.”“Today, they have become topless, brainless. Congress has no sense that this AI summit is not a BJP summit. It is an AI summit of the whole world,” he added.
‘Destroying India’s Global Image’
BJP’s IT department chief Amit Malviya also criticized the protest, saying, “At a time when India is hosting a prestigious global AI summit, showcasing its innovation and leadership in technology, the Congress party has chosen disruption over prestige.”He alleged that the Act was “planned to embarrass India on the world stage” and added, “Political opposition is a democratic right, but tarnishing India’s global image is not… India deserves better.”In another post, Malviya said, “One of the main organizers of today’s nude protest at the AI summit, Narsingh Yadav, is pictured with Rahul Gandhi.” “There should be no doubt that the disruption was not accidental, it was orchestrated. Such drama on the international stage only tarnishes India’s image and undermines the stage to showcase the country’s technological leadership. Political disagreement is part of democracy. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also attacked the party, saying, “The Congress party has committed an anti-national act. It was the World AI Summit, led by India. It was not a personal political forum. Just as an anti-national feels uneasy, resentful and jealous of the status of the country, similarly their workers in the Gandhi family were committed to such an anti-national act.”..” In another post by X, he said that Congress workers stormed the venue and “raised offensive slogans at the behest of Rahul Gandhi.” He also claimed that “Rahul Gandhi, the Congress and the Gandhi-Bhadra family should apologize to the country and its youth.”

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal accused Rahul Gandhi of trying to “insult India”. In a post on X, he wrote, “This is to show the arrogance and desperation of Congress! Congress Party’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh echoed the same sentiment, saying, “When the entire world was watching India host the AI Impact Summit at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and witnessing our growing global leadership in technology and innovation, the Congress party chose to disrupt the event instead of raising the profile of the nation.”“The shameful misbehavior that the Youth Congress workers have indulged in and created ruckus at the venue is not only unfortunate but also an attempt to tarnish India’s reputation on the international stage…” he added.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Today, the Congress Party’s youth wing attempted a shameful incident at Bharat Mandap. Protesters marched inside the venue wearing or holding white T-shirts bearing pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, chanting slogans such as “India-US trade deal”, “Epstein files” and “Prime Minister compromised”, leading to heated exchanges with some attendees.In a statement, the Indian Youth Congress defended the protest, saying its workers were raising their voices against “an uncompromising prime minister who has traded the country’s identity on the AI summit”.“Activists of the Indian Youth Congress raised their voice and protested against the uncompromising Prime Minister who has traded the country’s identity at the AI Summit,” the organization said in an official post.“Instead of harnessing India’s talent and data, the AI summit is a disorganized PR philosophy – Indian data for sale, Chinese products showcased,” it added.
