TMC government has crossed all limits, says PM Modi on President Murmur venue, protocol complaints

New Delhi: West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress government had no respect for constitutional office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday, lashing out at the state administration after President Draupadi Murmu expressed dismay at the reception given to him and the way he attended tribal community events.“This is shameful and unprecedented. Everyone who believes in democracy and empowerment of tribal communities is disappointed,” the prime minister said in response to Murmur’s comments posted on X.In his remarks, President Murmu noted that the venue of the event was changed to a location that made it difficult for tribal people to attend and he was not given protocol on his arrival. The Prime Minister said, “The pain and anguish expressed by President Ji, who himself hails from a tribal community, has caused immense grief in the hearts of the people of India. The TMC government in West Bengal has truly crossed all limits. Their administration is responsible for this insult to the President.”Modi said it was equally unfortunate that a matter as important as Santal culture was being treated so casually by the West Bengal government. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on her part, alleged that the BJP was using Murmu for politics ahead of the state assembly elections.
