At the Times Internet Half Marathon 2026, some of the most powerful moments came not from the fastest finishers, but from those who redefined what it means to participate. Runners with disabilities took part across a range of categories, bringing with them stories of determination, discipline and quiet resilience that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

The stories that emerged

Among the participants, Neeraj Kumar, a national level para-athlete, made his debut in the 2K running category, showing how athletes can successfully transition to the sports format. Ashok Kumar Sharma builds on his strong college athletic background to return to competitive running and independently conducts every aspect of his participation, reflecting both discipline and self-reliance. Rakhi Mittal completed the 2K walk with steadfast endurance, demonstrating consistency and deep commitment to fitness.The diversity of participation was equally evident in longer race categories such as the 5K and 10K. Visually impaired runner Sanjay Sondhi completes 5K with the help of a caregiver, demonstrating coordination and confidence. Amit Kumar, a below-knee amputee, ran using prosthetics, embodying adaptability and determination. Sanchit Goyal, who is hearing impaired, navigated the race through focus and rhythm rather than sound, maintaining a steady pace throughout. In the 10K category, 18-year-old Madhav Madan completed the race with a family member, emphasizing not only personal resilience but the important role of a support system.

Beyond competition, the event evolved into a platform where national-level athletes and everyday participants came together, proving that effort is worth more than limitations.
