Tamil Nadu: TVK Pradhan Vijay filed a case for violating election rules after entering the polls

New Delhi: A case was registered on Tuesday against Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay for violating the electoral conduct rules at Peravallur police station.According to the complaint filed by Flying Squad Officer Kumar, Vijay violated the code of conduct during a public gathering by using around 30 loudspeakers, drawing a crowd of over 5,000 people and causing public inconvenience.The complaint further states that the gathering led to obstruction of public roads and reportedly obstructed the movement of an ambulance out of concern for public safety.Based on the complaint, the Peravallur police registered a case under five sections, including charges related to public nuisance, unlawful assembly and obstruction of public way. According to ANI reports, around 5,000 party workers have been named along with Vijay in the case. Vijay recently announced that he will contest from Perambur and Trichy East constituencies.Tamil Nadu is set to go to polls in a single phase on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4.
