New Delhi: Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) Chief victory On Monday called off its scheduled election campaign in Chennai citing logistical constraints imposed by the local authorities.Vijay was all set to campaign in Villivakkam and T Nagar constituencies. Although the police gave permission for the events, the party alleged that the time allotted for traveling between the two locations was insufficient, news agency ANI reported, citing party sources.Citing these restrictions, Vijay decided to call off the campaign for the day, adding that TVK is likely to approach the Election Commission on the matter. An official statement from the party is awaited.Tamil Nadu Voting will be held in a single phase on April 23, counting on May 4The main contest is expected between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA)—which includes the Congress, DMDK and VCK—and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP and PMK allies.Actor-turned-politician Vijay is all set to make his electoral debut with TVK and aims to establish the party as a third force in the state.Earlier on Saturday, Vijay launched a scathing attack on the established alliance during a rally in Puducherry, calling the AINRC-BJP alliance “tired” and the DMK-Congress alliance “confused”.“There are 2 alliances in Puducherry… In Tamil Nadu, DMK-Congress is a confused alliance. Similarly, it continues to be a confused alliance here. Similarly, there is an NR Congress-BJP alliance. It is not a united alliance. It is a tired alliance. Why have we come to power in Puducherry, why have we not come to power in this state? Will do our best to secure statehood,” Vijay said.
