Surat event with Godse kin as chief guest junked after uproar | India News
SURAT: A proposed program with a family member of Nathuram Godes as the chief guest was canceled on Saturday following criticism from various sections of the society. Posters announcing Sunday’s event referred to Godse as “Hindu Hriday Samrat Param Deshabhakt Late Nathuramji Godse (Emperor of Hindu Hearts, Supreme Patriot Nathuram Godse)”. Dr. Gautam Khattar, founder of Sanatan Mahasangha, was present as the keynote speaker along with his family member, Ajinka Godse. The event titled ‘Secure India – Traditional Past, Present and Future Challenges and their Solutions’ was organized by Sri Ramakrishna Seva Samiti. Congress leader Aslam Cyclewala said, “It is shameful that an event glorifying the killer of Mahatma Gandhi is being organized in his home state. What are we trying to teach our youth? Instead of the ethics of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, we are sharing the knowledge of the assassination.” The cyclist alleged that the Surat Municipal Corporation and the police did not listen to his pleas to remove the posters.
