SIT to probe bid on life of Farooq Abdullah | India News
JAMMU: J&K Police has constituted a seven-member unit Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the assassination attempt on former chief minister and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah at a wedding ceremony in Jammu on March 11.The SIT directed by Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti will be headed by DIG (Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range) Shiv Kumar Sharma.
On the night of March 11, Abdullah had a miraculous escape when a gunman opened fire on him while leaving a wedding ceremony in Jammu’s Greater Kailash area.The 63-year-old assailant, identified as Kamal Singh, was overpowered by the former chief minister’s vigilant security guards and arrested on the spot. A licensed weapon (revolver) used in the crime was recovered from him.
