Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap posted on Instagram that ‘Subedar’ should have been released in theatres. According to him, the film has been shot in anamorphic format for the big screen. He also wrote that director Suresh Triveni has shown the environment of Bundelkhand and Chambal, where patriarchy and social structure are glimpsed. The story of ‘Subedar’ revolves around retired soldier Arjun Maurya (Anil Kapoor). Set in Madhya Pradesh, the film shows him trying to adjust to normal life after returning home. He also fights against corruption in his area. Radhika Madan has played the role of Arjun Maurya’s daughter Shyama in the film. In the story, Arjun uses his military training to protect his family. Apart from Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan, the film also stars Khushboo Sundar, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Mona Singh and Faisal Malik in important roles.
