I don’t know anything about any video. If he files a case against me, arrest me; do I have any objection? I have no objection. But I stand by my word, I am against Bangladeshi infiltrators and I will be against them,” the Assam chief minister told news agency ANI.His comments came after All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Waisi filed an official complaint with the Hyderabad City Police seeking criminal action against Sarma for what he described as “genocidal hate speech” in a “now-deleted video” allegedly depicting violence against Muslims.In a post on X, YC said he approached the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner on Monday, alleging that the video showing Sarma symbolically shooting at people was “very clearly portrayed as Muslims.” “I have filed an official complaint with @CPHydCity for criminal action against Himanta Sarma for showing his (now deleted) violent video of him shooting Muslims. Unfortunately, genocidal hate speech has become the norm.”He also attached a copy of the complaint, stating that the imagery and phrases used in the video, including “point blank shot” and “no mercy”, were intended to outrage religious sentiments, promote communal hatred and incite violence.According to the complaint, the video was uploaded from the Assam BJP’s official X account on February 7 and taken down a day later, though it continues to circulate on social media. YC argued that law enforcement agencies are constitutionally obligated to take spontaneous action against hate speech, even without a formal complaint.YC also raised the issue during a public meeting in Zahirabad on Sunday while campaigning for the Telangana municipal elections scheduled for February 11. Shifting the focus from local civic issues to what he described as a national crisis of dignity, YC accused the BJP of stoking communal hatred and urged voters to strengthen AIMIM as an antidote to communism.Addressing the supporters, YC highlighted AIMIM’s relief work during incidents like the Jainur violence and the Medak town clashes, alleging inaction by both the Congress and BRS governments. He said municipal elections were important for day-to-day governance and appealed to voters to support AIMIM candidates for inclusive development and effective grassroots leadership.
