New Delhi: A day ahead of polls in Kerala, BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Wednesday dismissed the Congress’ allegations that he failed to disclose assets in his election affidavit, calling the allegation a “sad, desperate attempt” by the “scared” opposition to divert attention from development. The former Union minister also claimed that last time LDF and Congress contested separately and they will join forces as Bharat Bloc in Kerala in the next elections.In a statement to ANI, Chandrasekhar said, “Making allegations does not make it true. This is a typical, sad, horrible Congress and a desperate attempt by a scared CPM to divert people’s attention from development. If they have evidence, why are they not going to the police and the Election Commission? They won’t.”

From the next election, it will be only NDA and Congress and LDF will come together formally, as INDI alliance.”The comments came after Congress leader and UDF candidate from the Nemom assembly seat, KS Sabrinathan, approached the Election Commission alleging that Chandrasekhar had not disclosed assets of Rs 200 crore.“After filing the nomination, serious discrepancies regarding the declaration of assets have come to light. We have raised the matter with the EC during formal scrutiny and will submit detailed evidence,” said Sabrinathan.Kerala will go to polls in a single phase on April 9, with counting scheduled on May 4. The CPM-led Left Democratic Front is looking to retain power against the Congress-led United Democratic Front, while the BJP is aiming to expand its footprint in the state after its performance in the Thiruvananthapuram civic polls.
