Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has received death threats on Tuesday. This threat has been given through a voice note sent on WhatsApp, in which the accused has demanded a ransom of crores of rupees.
According to sources, soon after receiving the threat, Mumbai Police has tightened security outside Ranveer Singh’s Bandra residence. Additional police force has been deployed and people coming and going are being closely monitored.
This incident comes after five rounds of firing outside film director Rohit Shetty’s house in Mumbai on January 31, due to which Mumbai Police is more alert in the matter.
Ranveer Singh has recently done the film Dhurandhar, in which he played the role of an undercover agent.
Warning of consequences for not paying large amount
Police officials said that in the threatening voice note, the accused has described himself as being involved in a serious crime and has warned of dire consequences if the huge amount is not paid. Police have sent the voice note for forensic investigation.
Cyber Cell and Crime Branch of Mumbai Police are together trying to trace the location of the accused through WhatsApp number and voice sample. In the initial investigation, it is suspected that the person making the threat may be associated with a criminal gang.
Investigation into connection with Rohit Shetty firing case
Police are also investigating whether the threat received by Ranveer Singh has any direct connection with the firing incident at Rohit Shetty’s house or is it a conspiracy to spread fear. Police say that the accused will be caught soon.
