Priyanka Chopra recently became emotional remembering the birth of her daughter Malti Marie, born through surrogacy. The actress also told that that period was very difficult and traumatic for her personally. He said that he was not ready at that time because the situation regarding the girl’s health was not clear. He told that his daughter was born at 27 weeks and stayed in NICU i.e. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for more than 100 days. For mental support during that difficult time, she chanted mantras like Mahamrityunjaya Mantra in a low voice to the girl. Priyanka told that the condition of the girl was critical at the time of birth. “She was looking purple,” the actress said. This time was very difficult for the actress and her husband Nick Jonas. He admitted that this was one of the most challenging periods of his life. This time was during the Covid-19 pandemic, so the rules in the hospital were strict. Initially permission to meet was limited. Priyanka told that the girl was very small. Nurses had to take special care during medical procedures. The actress said that she was feeling numb in the initial hours. The surrogate’s recovery went well, but she herself was trying to understand the situation. The actress also told that many people were praying for the baby girl. He said that Malti’s coming into this world was not easy. During the treatment, the girl had to be given several medical supports and six blood transfusions were also done. Why chant mantras in NICU? Priyanka and Nick Jonas spent time in shifts during her stay in the NICU. Both of them tried to ensure that the child does not remain alone. Nick Jonas sometimes sang songs on guitar. Priyanka kept an iPod near the girl. In that, mantras like Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, Gayatri Mantra and Om Namah Shivay were chanted in a slow voice. He said that this gave him mental support. This helped in maintaining concentration and balance. Priyanka told that initially only one person was allowed to meet in the hospital at a time. He described the baby’s first sound as very light. He said, “The voice was as soft as a cat.” Doctors provided many medical supports. The girl also received blood transfusion. During this time both of them stopped their professional work. He stayed with the girl in the hospital. Priyanka said that she tried to keep herself strong. “I didn’t have the option to be scared or broken down. I had to be present as a mother,” she said.
