New Delhi: Kerala Police has launched a criminal investigation into an AI-generated video targeting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi And Election Commission of IndiaBooking both Platform X Corp and a user account for its circulation.The cyber wing said the video, flagged by authorities including the ECI, was designed to mislead viewers and undermine confidence in important constitutional institutions during a sensitive election.An FIR has been lodged in Thiruvananthapuram against the handle Lakshmi N Raju (@valiant_Raju), along with other unidentified persons and X Corporation investigators are probing who created and circulated the clip and whether there was a concerted motive behind its spread.According to the police, the 77-second video was shared with the potential to cause public unrest. Authorities also alleged that the platform failed to operate despite being asked to take it down.The case invokes provisions of the Indian Penal Code relating to inducement, fraud and public mischief, as well as identity theft under the IT Act.Officials said that takedown notices have been issued and steps have been taken to ensure further circulation in line with election norms.Issuing a public advisory, the police warned against sharing unverified or rigged content during polls, saying any attempt to distort the electoral process would attract strict legal action.
