PM Modi: Make our agriculture export-oriented | India News
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday emphasized the need to make Indian agriculture export-oriented and asked farmers to exploit the country’s diverse climate to increase productivity and boost exports of agricultural products.“We have a diverse climate, and we must take full advantage of it. We are very rich in terms of agro-climatic zones… If we can collectively scale high-value products, it can transform agriculture into a globally competitive sector,” Modi said in a post-Budget webinar on ‘Agriculture and Rural Transformation’.
Highlighting the change in global demand, he said, the world is much more aware of health. “Natural farming and chemical-free farm products create a highway for us to reach the world market. The government is thinking about certification and laboratories,” the Prime Minister said.
