Omar Abdullah urges Kashmiri students to leave Iran soon | India News
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday urged Kashmiri students studying in Iran to leave the country immediately. “I am saying this very clearly, they should not ignore the advice of the Government of India. Otherwise, it may become a problem for us tomorrow,” Omar told reporters. He said the students should act quickly while the situation in Iran is stable and the airport is open. “They should book their tickets and come back. If the situation is normal, they can always go back,” he said. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not issued this advisory without reason. If the situation in Iran worsens later, it will be difficult to evacuate them safely.”National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah also appealed to the students to return as soon as possible. “If the airstrip is closed tomorrow, their parents will be worried and raise their voice here. It is better to leave early because once the flight is suspended, evacuation becomes extremely difficult. The advisory has already been issued, and it should be taken seriously,” he said.
