The spices are the same every time – black cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon etc. etc. But their taste changes with the hands of the user. Bloody action dramas, great songs and love stories are the most popular spices of Bollywood these days. But in the hope that these spices will give a different taste when they come in the hands of a top class cinematic chef like Vishal Bhardwaj, it was decided to taste ‘O Romeo’. Half plate of this dish of Vishal has been finished and till now it is quite tasty.
The first half is full of the best flavors of filmmaking.
shahid kapoor ‘O Romeo’ starts with the most explosive intro of his career. Shahid is in the role of Ustra, a dreaded gangster who commits murders with a razor. His razor is so sharp that it cuts the body and separates the soul. Only one master can make this gangster dance to his tune – Khan Saheb (Nana Patekar). Khan Saheb is an IB cop and is using the razor’s edge to solve crimes.
Unheard melodies start playing in Ustra’s life the day Afshan enters (Tripti Dimri) of. Afshan has come to give betel nut to the dreaded gangster Jalal (Avinash Tiwari), an associate of Ustra, and his three associates. The motive behind Afshan’s betel nut is revenge. If you see all this in the film itself, the taste will remain intact.
The first half of ‘O Romeo’ is quite packed with Vishal’s excellent filmmaking, garnished with 90s songs. The story gets full time to develop, the tension to dissolve in the scenes and the consequences of love to settle. Where the pace should be fast, it is fast. Where there should be a pause to savor, there is pause.
The work of all the actors looks lively. Just before the interval, the main villain of the story Jalal i.e. Avinash Tiwari has made a strong entry. And it is said that the movie starts with the entry of the villain. Now let’s see what happens next.
