Nikhil Siddharth worked hard for two years for Swayambhu: Said- This is not just a film, it is the story of our roots, we have not made it, we have lived it.

Popular actor of South Indian cinema Nikhil Siddharth is in the news for his much awaited film ‘Swayambhu’. After the success of ‘Karthikeya 2’, while the audience was waiting for his next project, Nikhil was busy preparing for this ambitious film for the last two years. The recently released teaser has received a tremendous response from the audience, which has further increased the curiosity about the film. In a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Nikhil spoke openly about his long transformation, tough training, story based on historical background and connection with Indian culture. Here are some highlights… Question: After ‘Kartikeya 2’, everyone wanted to know where you were. You gave two-two and a half years to one film. Now the teaser of ‘Swayambhu’ is getting tremendous response. What are your feelings on so much hard work and this appreciation? Answer: We worked diligently for ‘Swayambhu’ for almost two years. I wouldn’t call it just hard work, we have lived it. It was not easy to keep long hair, grow a beard and make the body like a warrior. I am physically thin, so had to go on a special diet and exercise hard to gain muscle. Preparation had to be done before every action scene. It was definitely challenging, but the experience was very beautiful. Now that the teaser is getting people’s love, it seems the wait will be worth it. Question: The technical team of the film is very strong. Did this increase expectations? Answer: Definitely. Our cinematography director K. Of. Senthil Kumar has worked in grand films like ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’. The music is by Ravi Basrur who has given music for films like ‘KGF’, ‘Salaar’ and ‘Marco’. When such experienced people join a project, the responsibility automatically increases. This trust is not only based on the artist but also on the strength of the story. Question: ‘Sengol’ is shown in the teaser. Many people do not know about it. What is the story of the film? Answer: The film starts with ‘Sengol’, which is considered a scepter and a symbol of religion. The story is based on historical background. The story revolves around a soldier ‘Krishnan Raman’ in the year 985 AD. He is not a king but an ordinary soldier, but circumstances make him a part of a larger political event. This story shows that even an ordinary person can make extraordinary contributions. Question: A glimpse of Indian culture and history is clearly visible in your films. Is this part of your thinking? Answer: Yes, absolutely. In my childhood, I used to listen to the stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata from my grandparents. Those stories stuck in my mind. I believe that it is important to present our culture and history in an accurate and respectful manner. Today’s generation should also connect with their roots. If inspiration is mixed with entertainment, it is even better. Question: What kind of preparation did you do for the film? Answer: The producer paid special attention to my character. I was sent to Vietnam for 45 days, where I trained with 30-40 fighters. Learned archery, weapons practice and horse riding. The name of my horse was ‘Diamond’, with which I still have an emotional connection. Made a big change in diet. Stopped sugar completely. Contains proteins, eggs and non-vegetarian food. Today’s audience wants reality, so there should be nothing artificial on screen. Question: What is special about the love story and technology in the film? Answer:The film also has a love story, which is very balanced and emotional. My good rapport with Sanyuktha Menon and Nabha Nation will be seen. Question: What should the audience expect from ‘Swayambhu’? Answer: It is a grand cinematic journey of almost three hours. My first 3D film and made in modern technology. North, South, East, West, every viewer will be able to watch it with familiarity. If it gets the love of the audience, then its further expansion is also possible. For now, it is a complete story full of history, adventure and inspiration.
