New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said the ‘Namo Bharat’ fast rail corridor connecting Delhi with Meerut will transform the momentum of the national capital and thanked the Prime Minister for the “priceless gift”.Prime Minister Narendra Modi The entire 82 km Delhi Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor has been dedicated to the nation by inaugurating the remaining two sections of India’s first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).
The stretches inaugurated include a 5 km stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and a 21 km stretch between Meerut South and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh.The Chief Minister emphasized that, given Delhi’s growing population pressure and transportation challenges, the project will contribute significantly to the overall development of the city.The corridor will help commuters save time and resources, marking a historic milestone for Delhi and the surrounding region, Gupta said in a statement.The corridor, stretching from the national capital Delhi to Meerut, will provide fast and reliable connectivity to hundreds of thousands of commuters every day.Additionally, the project is expected to reduce traffic congestion and reduce carbon emissions by reducing the number of private vehicles on the road, thereby creating a positive environmental impact, he said.Describing the success of the project as a key example of infrastructure development in the country, Gupta said it would stimulate economic activity in the Delhi-NCR region, strengthen employment opportunities and accelerate balanced regional development.Expressing deep gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of Delhi, he said the initiative was a “priceless gift” to the people of the city and would serve as a transformative foundational step for generations to come.
