New Delhi: The Indian embassy in Riyadh early Monday denied reports of Indian casualties in an incident in which an Iranian “military missile” hit a residential building in Saudi Arabia’s Al Kharj amid the crisis in the Middle East region. However, an Indian national was reported injured.In a post on X, the embassy said the injured man was being treated at a government hospital in Al Kharj and officials were in contact with Saudi authorities. The Embassy wrote, “It is a matter of relief that there was no Indian casualty in the unfortunate incident at Al Kharj yesterday evening. The Embassy has contacted the concerned Saudi authorities in this regard. Counselor (CW) Shri Y. Sabir visited Al Kharj last night and met the injured Indian national involved in the unfortunate incident.” He is currently undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Al Kharj.”The embassy statement came after the Saudi General Directorate of Civil Defense confirmed that the missile landed in a residential area in Al-Kharj Governorate. Civil Defense said two people were killed and several others were injured. According to the agency, the dead included 11 injured Bangladeshi nationals and one injured Indian.The incident comes amid rising tensions with the US, Israel and Iran.
