Many of you will be arrested: West Bengal CM Mamata warns TMC workers | India News
Kolkata/Khandghosh: Chief Minister of Bengal Mamata Banerjee Warning of an “operation” to arrest Trinamool workers, which began on Sunday night, less than a fortnight before the assembly polls, it now called for vigilance under an administration under the EC. Mamata vowed to resist the BJP’s attempt to “break Bengal through delimitation” which is set to begin after the census this year. The BJP, he said, was trying to “harass and intimidate” voters in Bengal, including him, because they “knew they would lose the election”. “Many will be detained and arrested before the election (as part of the election strategy). The operation will begin tonight (Sunday). Do not fear… Remember, during this election everything is under the EC – nothing is in our hands. Stay alert for another 15-21 days; Then we will see, we will fight, and we will win again… They (BJP) know they will lose the election. That is why they have changed everything here,” the chief minister said at a rally in Khandhghose in east Burdwan, indicating a wave of transfers in the state administration. Opposing a boundary bill, which the Center may introduce in the Lok Sabha this month, Mamata has called it a design to “divide Bengal into three parts”. “Then NRC will be implemented. People will be sent to detention camps. In Assam, 13 lakh Hindus and six lakh Muslims were among the 19 lakh people sent to detention camps. We will never allow detention camps in Bengal,” the chief minister said. Mamata described SIR as the “biggest scam”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, was voted into office for a third term by the people in the 2024 list. “Is everyone an intruder?” He asked who had voted in the last Lok Sabha elections but were excluded after the SIR.
