Make a list of reforms, give details, PM Modi told ministers

NEW DELHI: Pushing the theme of “reforms express”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked his cabinet colleagues to propose a list of reforms their ministries intend to initiate in the next few months and provide details of changes already underway, Deepak Das reported. He asked them to focus on two themes – ease of living and ease of doing business – while listing the proposed reforms.TOI has learned that the Prime Minister made these suggestions while presiding over the first Cabinet meeting at Seva Tirtha, where a resolution was adopted that every decision taken on the premises would be inspired by the sentiment of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhav’ and that it would serve as a center for empowerment of every Indian, not a show of force.Meanwhile, the Railway Ministry has announced plans to carry out 52 reforms in 52 weeks, some of which have been launched. Several other ministries are finalizing ‘non-financial regulatory reforms’ that can be implemented without legislative amendments. Immediately after the meeting, some ministers asked staff to identify areas for further reforms.
