Fifth effect: Trouble in automobile sector
A major impact of gas shortage has been seen in India’s automobile sector also. In a letter to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has expressed concern that any disruption in the supply of LPG, PNG and propane to the auto sector and its supporting industries could impact the vehicle supply chain. According to Business Today, the letter said that vehicle manufacturers depend on the supply of LPG, PNG and propane gas for many critical manufacturing processes, including casting, forging and paint shops.
