Land use changed for nearly 101 acres in Central Vista area | India News
New Delhi: The government has changed the use of approximately 101 acres of land in the Central Vista area for construction of government offices and government residences, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs told the Lok Sabha on Thursday. It also said 2,994 trees were cut or replaced to rebuild the Central Vista project.In a written reply, the ministry said the land use for Plot No-1, located on Church Road near DTC Central Secretariat Bus Terminal, measuring 15 acres, has been changed from “Transportation (Bus Terminal/Parking) and Government (Presidential Estate and Parliament House) and Recreational (Neighbourhood Play Area)”. The Vice President’s enclave has emerged in this conspiracy.Similarly, the land use of Plot No. 2 situated opposite Sangsad Bhawan measuring 9.5 acres was changed from “Recreational (District Park)” to “Government (Parliament Bhavan)” and Plot No. 3 situated south of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road and National Archives measuring 7.7 acres from “Government & Semi-Creative Office” to “Government & Recreation” (Govt. & Semi-Official Office) has been changed from Park).In respect of Plot No-4 situated south of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road and 24.7 acres east of the road, the land use has been changed from “Government and Semi-Public Facilities” to “Government Offices”. Land use has been changed from “Government & Semi-Public Facilities” to “Government Office” for Plot No-5 measuring 4.5 acres east of Man Singh Road and south of Ashoka Road.Land use has been changed from “Government and Quasi Public Facilities” to “Government Offices and Recreational (District Park)” for Plot No-6 measuring 24.7 acres north of Maulana Azad Road and east of Janpath. The ministry said the land use of Plot No-7, north of Dalhousie Road near South Block measuring 15 acres, has been changed from “government office and recreational (neighbourhood play area)” to “residential”. The new Prime Minister’s residence is coming up on this plot.
