Jewelery worth Rs 2 crore goes missing after looting at Travancore palace

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Jewelery worth over Rs 2 crore has been allegedly stolen from Kaudia Palace, the official residence of the Travancore royal family. The Perurkada police registered a case of theft based on a complaint filed by senior family member As-Athi Thirunal Gauri Lakshmi Bai. The ornaments, kept in an iron cupboard in the bedroom of the complainant, are suspected to have been stolen between October and November 2025. The family initially believed the jewelry was misplaced They included gold chains embedded with orange coral beads and gold pearls, ‘Pichipu Motu’ design anklets and studded with black and gold beads. The police suspect that people known to the palace are responsible for the theft. They said internal videos have surfaced on social media, suggesting that outsiders entered the premises.
