‘It’s Didi’s turn’: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta targets Mamata in Bengal pitch | India News
New Delhi: Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta launched a wide-ranging backlash against the West Bengal Chief Minister on Sunday Mamata Banerjeeaccused Trinamool Congress (TMC) Government is hampering development and failing to ensure safety of women in the state.Addressing a rally, Gupta questioned the use of central funds, saying, “I was thinking, Didi was in Bengal, and Bhaiya was in Delhi. Remember? Bhaiya has been kicked out. Whose turn is it now? Both were the same… want their names on everything… It’s people’s money; it should be used for public welfare. Who are you to stop development of crores in Bengal?” Does it reach the poor?”He added, “The people of Bengal could not enter into development. Where did all the money go?… I am fully confident that Bhaiya is gone. Whose turn is it now? Didi’s turn,” ANI quoted him as saying.Gupta criticized the TMC government for blocking central schemes and addressing women’s protection, citing incidents like the rape-murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Hospital. He said, “Bangla also has the right to live with dignity… We have never seen such a terrible situation anywhere. In any state of the country where there is a woman chief minister, still the girls are not safe there, the dignity of women has no value. This will not happen anywhere in the country, in the world, but on the soil of Bengal.”Speaking to the media, he also alleged that Mamata Banerjee is hiding behind infiltrators to suppress public opinion. “The politics of terror, bullying and greed is coming to an end. These elections will bring change in Bengal… Mamata Banerjee may hide behind intruders, but she cannot suppress the voice of the people,” Gupta said. The comments come amid intense political activity in West Bengal ahead of the elections, with leaders of various parties intensifying their campaigns. Earlier, on 21 February, Mamata Banerjee criticized the Centre, alleging that Bengali migrant workers in other states were being targeted for speaking Bengali.
