New Delhi: Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Saturday criticized the Prime Minister Narendra ModiHis recent visit to Israel comes after Israel and the US launched a joint military attack on Iran.In a post on X, Ramesh said, “After two days Mr. Modi To celebrate his visit to Israel, Israel and the United States launched their joint attack on Iran. This was fully expected given their military build-up over the past few months. Mr. Modi nevertheless chose to visit Israel, where he displayed supreme moral cowardice. He declared that India stood with Israel and got himself an award for saying so. This visit to Israel was shameful, and more so in light of the war started by two of Modi’s ‘good friends’.”
Israel and the US launched a joint military strike on Iran on Saturday, codenamed Operation Roaring Lion. The strikes targeted military installations, missile production facilities and areas near the office of Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei.Several ministries in southern Tehran were reportedly hit, and residents heard loud explosions. Israel declared a nationwide state of emergency, moved hospitals underground and activated sirens. Iran, Israel and Iraq have closed their airspace and suspended flights. Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his visit to Israel on Thursday. During the visit, India and Israel agreed to upgrade their relationship to a special strategic partnership. The two sides signed 27 agreements covering innovation, cultural exchange, manufacturing and artificial intelligence.Prime Minister Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Artificial intelligence, quantum computing, economic and security cooperation were discussed. The Prime Minister also said that India and Israel will soon finalize a mutually beneficial free trade agreement and announce a critical and emerging technology partnership.
