Iran Israel War: भारत के बंदरगाह तक पहुंची जंग की आंच! समुद्र में फंसी 2,000 कारें – Iran Israel USA War West Asia conflict disrupts Car Export shipment 2000 Hyundai cars Gulf bound cargo auaw
The ongoing conflict in West Asia has now started affecting the ports of India. The situation has become such that the routes of ships moving in the sea are changing and the entire export planning is going awry. The latest case is of about 2,000 cars, which were sent to Gulf countries, but now there may be a need to bring them back to Chennai Port. That is, even though the battlefield may be far away from India, its impact has started being felt even by India’s exports and business. The war between Iran, Israel and America seems to be affecting especially automobile and textile exports.
According to the report of New Indian Express, the increasing conflict in West Asia is now affecting India’s export system as well. According to the report, about 2,000 vehicles, which Hyundai Motor India had sent it to Gulf countries, now there is a possibility of bringing it back to Chennai Port. These vehicles were first to be transported to the markets of West Asia through Port of Hambantota. But due to the war turmoil at sea, shipping companies are rethinking their routes and cargo movement.
The report quoted port officials as saying that due to the current situation in the main sea routes like the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, the risk to the movement of ships has increased. For this reason, many shipping companies are currently avoiding their ships from passing through these routes. This crisis has also affected the container traffic related to Gulf countries. The report quoted port sources as saying that about 4,000 containers have been diverted from their intended routes. Of these, about 1,800 containers were sent from Chennai.
Since the war intensified in late February, the movement of ships from Tamil Nadu ports has slowed down. Its biggest impact was on V.O. located in the Gulf of Mannar in Tamil Nadu. It is visible at Chidambaram Port (VO Chidambaranar Port), which is considered a major center of container export for Gulf countries.
Usually, goods like clothes, home textiles, food products, eggs and engineering castings are sent directly to West Asia from this port. But due to the current situation, many shipments are now facing the problem of delay or diversion. On February 28, the cargo ship Zhong Gu Tai Yuan had left Thoothukudi port carrying 250 containers, but had to change its course in the middle of the sea and later had to offload the cargo at Jawaharlal Nehru Port.
Chennai Port Authority is working on various options to handle this matter. An area of about 20,000 square meter yard outside the terminal of Chidambaram Port is being considered for use as temporary cargo storage. So that containers can be kept there if needed. A round of high level meetings is going on between the port authority and exporters, so that alternative sea routes can also be considered to save the ships from the Strait of Hormuz.
