AI is trained from public data
Starting this conversation, Apara said, ‘DPDA is not in effect yet. Whereas LLM has been trained from publicly available data. In such a situation, our protection from these AI models is only contract based. Because the Data Protection Act also says that the information available in public does not come under their purview.
Sharing one of his experiences, Nikhil said, ‘Recently I went to give a blood test, which was AI based. There I was given a form, in which it was written that I am giving my data to train AI of my own free will. When I refused to do so, he asked if you do not want to share the data to help humanity.
‘The question here is whether we should give this data to AI tools for training, which is very personal. If you see today, some data gets leaked every day. And how much choice do we have? Do we have the freedom not to share data?
AI will guess about you
On this topic, Niharika said, ‘If AI gives us wrong data, then who will be responsible for it. Data of many companies is being leaked and they are being fined. But the question remains that once the data is out, what options do we have?

Nikhil Pava said, ‘The more data they get in their hands, the easier it will be to predict about you. We have seen how quick commerce companies show different prices to different users. All this happens on the basis of data.
Niharika said that do you read fine printed documents? This is a big question because many people do not do this. When you download any app or game, do not pay attention to these. In such a situation, the government will have to come forward and make guard rails.
‘Apple has your fingerprints, which they store. They can handover this data. Therefore, users will have to be alert somewhere. At the end of this session, all the panelists agreed that consumers have to be aware. Without this their data can be misused.
