‘Hisab liya jayega’: PM Modi slams Didi in Kolkata rally | India News
KOLKATA: Chun-chun ke khaka liya jayega (One by one, everyone will be held accountable),” Prime Minister Modi said at a rally at the BJP’s Brigade Parade Ground here on Saturday, calling for “change” at the state secretariat Nabanna in the upcoming elections. He touched on the BJP’s key issues, “demographic change, lack of security for women and the violence and corruption of Nirma Sarkar (brutal government)”.Makers of ‘Maha Jungle Raj’ in Bengal will pay, PM Modi saysPrime Minister Modi’s speech set the template for the party’s election campaign in a state it wants to add to its spectacular electoral victory show since 2014. Saturday’s rally was likely to be the last to be addressed by the BJP’s biggest vote-catcher before the election schedule is announced next week. “The countdown has begun for those who brought Maha Jungle Raj to Bengal. Those who violate the law and torture people will not be spared. We will make them pay for their crimes. BJP will bring development if voted to office. Sabka khaka liya jayega (we will hold everyone accountable),” he said in his 49-minute speech. “Intimidation and threats have become TMC’s weapon. It is running with the help of goons,” he said. “This brutal government cannot stop change this time. The BJP has the blessings of Mahishasurmardini (Durga),” he added, citing several icons of Bengal, including Rishi Bankim Chandra, Rabindranath Tagore, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda, to undercut the narrative outside of the Trinamool being “a partner of the BJP in Bengal”. PM Modi then focused on what he described as the “demographic change taking place in Bengal” and Trinamool’s alleged role in it. “Roti, beti and mati (bread, daughter and soil) of Bengal are now under threat. Their land is being taken over by encroachers. The population of the state has changed and made Bengal unsafe. Bengali Hindus are being made a minority,” he said. “Criminals run free. Seven-to-eight-year-old and tribal women are being raped and the ruthless government is protecting the rapists. This same mentality has led to the highest number of acid attacks in Bengal,” alleged PM Modi, adding that the BJP would make Bengal safer for women. “This is PM Modi’s guarantee.” Prime Minister Modi then used a recent exchange between the state administration and President Draupadi Murmu to question the Trinamool’s “attitude towards tribals”. “Dalits are the most cheated people in the state. A few days ago, the state administration was responsible for the mismanagement of President Murmu’s visit to Bengal. The Trinamool can never accept a tribal woman at such a high post,” he alleged, adding: “Murmu is known for her simplicity and she expressed her pain. It was an insult to thousands of Dalit women and the Indian Constitution. Bengali will give a worthy reply.” Murmu’s criticism of the way she was treated at an event in Siliguri earlier this week prompted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to accuse the BJP of using the office of the President for politics. PM Modi also referred to Banerjee’s recent comments about a community. “People are being threatened, saying certain community members will kill them. How can someone holding constitutional office make such a comment,” he questioned, attributing the Trinamool’s opposition to the voter list SIR as another example of its “vote-bank politics”. He also slammed the TMC for trying to prevent people from attending its rallies. “Those who have come to this rally have been called thieves. But the people of Bengal know who the real thieves are. This brutal government could not stop the deluge of people even by stopping vehicles and closing bridges. This crowd reflects the mood of Bengal. PM Modi has accused the TMC of obstructing several central projects and being “anti-development”. “This administration has cursed the youth with immigration. The youth of Bengal are talented and hardworking but are forced to go to other states for work. Development has gone backwards. Investment has stopped and industry has stopped. Jobs are being sold here. This is PM Modi’s guarantee to give jobs to the youth of Bengal,” he added. Ahead of his rally, PM Modi inaugurated the Rs 18,680 crore infrastructure project.
