New Delhi: UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy welcomed the former Prime Minister Sage Sunak As “a great son of India” while highlighting his Indian roots during a fireside chat in New Delhi.Introducing Sunak at the British High Commission, Lammy said, “I know that former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is not only a great son of the UK, but also a great son of India.“Sunak immediately interjects, “son-in-law”, drawing laughter from the audience.Lammy also spoke of his own Indian heritage. “I just want to establish my heritage as well, because my grandmother on my mother’s side was from Kolkata,” she said.“Even though we are on different ends of the political aisle, we can work together and have been friends for many years,” Lammy said, emphasizing the UK’s ability to work together despite political differences. He added “It has been a great pleasure to join former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in recent years in our shared goal to do better about prostate cancer in the UK and globally, and to work with him on this cross-party issue.”Lammy’s comments came amid talks on strengthening UK-India ties with potential areas of cooperation including trade, technology and security as both countries explore ways to deepen their strategic partnership.Dr. spoke earlier AI Impact Summit In New Delhi, Sunak called India the ideal place to shape the future of artificial intelligence and said there is “no better place” to think about the global AI transformation.“We need a regular forum, where we can all meet and discuss this technology, and that’s what this summit led by PM Modi provides. This summit will have an impact; it will show us how we can make AI work, not just for the developed world but also for the developing world,” Sunak said.“There is no better place than India to discuss this AI transformation,” Sunak said, adding that the summit will show how AI can improve health and education “in every corner of the world” and enhance human dignity.
