India on Friday said it was deeply concerned about the rising number of civilian deaths in Lebanon, as Israeli attacks continued despite a two-week ceasefire to end the months-long conflict in West Asia. It emphasized that protecting civilians was its top priority. Speaking at an inter-ministerial briefing in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the situation as “very worrisome”, especially in the context of India’s longstanding stance of supporting peace and stability in the region.
